  • Even if a lot of people sort their waste, there is still a lack of clarification about the disposla of some products.

To engage the population and share awareness for waste seperation at home an information boards has been installed in the city centre near the river and ships. Through gamification, people were encouraged to sort product stickers according to their waste sorting habits and then check whether they had sorted them correctly. The other two pages served as a survey to gauge whether waste is sorted in private households and what might make waste sorting easier at the festival.

Design

The Concept of the boards have been designed and the visuals for the boards like stickers and reusable pictures of wastes has been created.

Preparation

The stickers and reusable pictures of wastes got printed and attatched to the boards.
The wooden structure and boards could be reused from our previous events.

Implementation

The board has been installed at a square in the city centre, close to the river with the ships.

Evaluation

Most of the people said that they sort their waste at home but got surprised by ssome of the sorting rules.

Missunderstandings

There are still difficulties in sorting some products into the correct waste stream for disposal.

Communication is key

It is important to engage the public to enhance not only better sorting quality at the festival but in the private households aswell.

Reach out as a festival

In order to have a general positive effect on waste sorting behaviour, the stand will be set up closer to the bins with covers attatched. Like that we can bring together the teaching for private behaviour and the festivals waste seperation concept.
