Bin attachments offer a smart and sustainable way to sort waste — no need for new bins.

Adapters of this kind can be set up on top of regular wastebins.

How to

A short guide on what to consider

Location requirements

Decide which waste fractions you want to collect separately at your event. We recommend keeping the system straightforward by focusing on the most common waste types typically generated at your festival, based on your past experiences.

Legal requirements

Make sure to comply with your city’s regulations on color coding, pictograms, and the types of waste fractions you plan to separate. The waste collection setup should match the selected fractions to ensure proper processing and recycling.

Execution and Responsibilities

For small scale pilots chose a diy setup. If you want to implement the wasteseperation in your festivals structure think about a self funded production or some service providers. We recommend to developed your chosen solution in collaboration with the local waste management authorities

Disposal

Being able to dispose of the collected waste streams separately requires not only very thorough sorting, but also increased logistical effort on the part of the local waste management services. Be aware that this can be a process for everyone involved.

Requirements

Standard waste bins (usually 240 litres) are required to use these adapters. These must be able to stand securely on the ground at your festival site and, depending on the method of waste disposal, may also need to be accessible during the festival is in progress. It is best to clarify this with your local waste management company.

Possible hurdles

The roles involved in waste management are sometimes very fragmented. One company supplies the bins, another empties them, and the festival also wants to use adapters for waste sorting... To ensure everything runs smoothly, make it clear from the very beginning how you intend the process to work and who is taking on which responsibilities.
